The annual Native Son Awards celebrates Black gay and queer men who are mavericks in their profession, community, and the world. Honoring those who have broken barriers professionally and personally, and who have become firsts in their respective industries. We honor the authenticity, achievements, and accomplishments, aiming to connect and celebrate the members of this influential yet long-ignored community in the realm of arts, business, media, fashion, politics, film and television, and sports. Past honorees have included CNN anchor Don Lemon, visual artist Kehinde Wiley, activist and author DeRay Mckesson, writer, producer, and director George C. Wolfe, Chief Transformation Officer of the Carlyle Group Reggie Van Lee, President of Next Model Management Kyle Hagler, Tony Award Winning choreographer George Faison, and New York Times Bestselling author Michael Arceneaux.
