BISHME CROMARTIE
At the Los Angeles premiere of Beyoncé’s Renaissance film, Michelle Williams broke the internet when she wore a one-of-a-kind Bishme Cromartie creation on the silver carpet. Those were not the first accolades for the in-demand designer, whose looks are confident, sexy and architecturally captivating. Earlier this year, he became the all-star of all-stars when he was crowned winner of Project Runway All Stars. The Baltimore native was only eight-years-old when he started sketching original designs. Since the launch of his clothing line, Cromartie’s bold yet streamlined garments have earned him international acclaim. Vogue declared his looks “sculpts and celebrates a woman’s body.” His client roster includes some of the biggest stars—Lizzo, Andra Day and Niecy Nash. He has said that his mission as a Black designer is to encourage self-expression, advocate for representation, and shatter the expectation for people of color. —K.M.
