DON LEMON

Don Lemon is a multi-award winning journalist and author, best known for his groundbreaking work with CNN. He joined the cable news network in 2006 as a correspondent and later achieved prominence with his own show, Don Lemon Tonight from 2014 to 2023. Last spring, when CNN unceremoniously cut Lemon from the network, that did not stop him from hosting the 6th annual Native Son Awards during Pride Month in June. His appearance and remarks about anti-LGBTQ legislation went viral. That night was a full circle moment for the award-winning anchor who back in 2016 was one of the honorees of the inaugural Native Son Awards, which highlights the achievements of Black gay and queer men who are leaders in their industries. Lemon continues taking time to reflect on his next moves. The former anchor told Memphis station ABC 24, “I’m figuring that out, I don’t have to be in a rush. I think people rush to make decisions and they end up making the wrong decision.” We can't wait to see Lemon's next chapter unfold. No doubt it will be filled with speaking truth to power. —K.M.
