SERPENTWITHFEET
The saying “creating their own lane” really does ring true for many of the extraordinary, unique individuals we recognize as Native Sons. Josiah Wise, who performs as serpentwithfeet, artfully fits the criteria. A talented musician originally from Baltimore, Maryland, he’s an experimental artist who creates live shows merging music, dance, storytelling and theater. This year, Wise’s been on a tour with his newest theatrical production, “Heart of Brick,” a multi-generational story of two men finding themselves and falling in love in a gay dance hall. The show was choreographed by the legendary Tony Award winner Raja Feather Kelly. Up next: serpentwithfeet’s new album GRIP, which is set to release in February 2024. —G.E.
