Queer storytellers have always existed, bringing to life the rich, authentic stories within our community. Black creatives like Ronald Hinton and Brandon Smith are building on that legacy through the Queer Voices NYC Film Festival. Designed by BIPOC LGBTQ+ folks for BIPOC LGBTQ+ folks, Queer Voices festival is held for three days at the historic New York City LGBT Community Center. Through their respective production companies—Smith’s Golden Boi Productions and Hinton’s Shared Soil Productions, which <a href="https://www.queerty.com/black-content-creators-go-it-alone-in-creating-inclusive-content-we-need-now-20241015" data-type="link" data-id="https://www.queerty.com/black-content-creators-go-it-alone-in-creating-inclusive-content-we-need-now-20241015">has launched the web series <em>NATIVES</em></a>—each continues to craft stories in the vein of Patrik Ian-Polk, Lee Daniels and Justin Simien.
