Ahmad Greene-Hayes

Dr. Ahmad Greene-Hayes educates the masses on Black history to create a better future for the Black community. Dr. Green-Hayes is the associate professor of African American religious studies at Harvard Divinity School — where he educates students on the richness of 19th century and 20th century African American religious history. The accomplished scholar balances his teaching with his research — with him having published work in the Journal of the American Academy of Religion, the Journal of Africana Religions, and the Journal of African American History. He has also completed consulting projects with the African American Policy Forum, Black Women’s Blueprint, and Center on African American Religion, Sexual Politics and Social Justice at Columbia University. Dr. Greene-Hayes work is critical to Black cultural advancement and academia, holding fellowships from Princeton University, Yale University, and the American Society of Church History. Outside of the classroom, Dr. Green-Hayes is expanding our understanding of Black religious practices with his 2025 book Underworld Work: Black Atlantic Religion-Making in Jim Crow New Orleans published by the University of Chicago Press. And his upcoming book, Little Richard’s Witness: Liner Notes on Black Religion and Sexuality, is sure to make other church-raised Native Sons feel seen.
