James LeGette

Male cheerleaders are taking to the NFL sidelines more than ever, with 12 teams boasting men in their cheerleader roster. The Philadelphia Eagles proudly house three of the male cheerleaders in the league, with James LeGette being a part of this historic high-kicking crew. A Philly native, LeGette turned to cheerleading on a dare in middle school. That fateful dare became the catalyst behind LeGette’s accomplished career as a dancer, gymnast, and cheerleader — which eventually led him to joining the Philadelphia Eagles cheerleading team in 2021. He has since been with the Eagles for five seasons, with his latest season seeing him cheer the team on at their winning Super Bowl game. While LeGette turns into an Eagles cheerleader by night, by day, he’s a special education teacher and a Boys & Girls Club mentor. And LeGette is using his work in education and the arts to show that there’s no barrier that can’t be broken.
