Sean Bankhead has crafted choreography for some of music's biggest names — bringing his high energy eight counts and endless attitude to music videos, live performances, and world tours. The Native Son Award winner has worked with acts like Normani, Lil Nas X, Cardi B, Victoria Monét, Megan Thee Stallion, and Flo — crafting numerous memorable dance moves for these artists that have even been spun off into viral social media dance challenges. The Philly native got his start after his first dance video he uploaded to YouTube went viral in 2006. In the years since breaking into the industry, he and his choreography have graced the stages of Coachella, the 63rd Grammy Awards, the 2020 and 2024 Super Bowl, and has been featured on TV shows like Empire and Boomerang. But the eight-time MTV Video Music Award nominee and a two-time winner from this year’s Hollywood Music Video Awards isn’t just focused on his acclaimed dance moves. This year thrust Bankhead into the spotlight, sharing his story with his feature in the Spring Fashion issue of The Cut and speaking at TEDNext in Atlanta — reminding us that he’s style and substance material just as much as he is a world-renowned choreographer.
