ASAD SYRKETT
Before Asad Syrkett was tapped as the Editor-in-Chief of Elle Decor, he ran business operations for the independent Swedish furniture brand and design studio Hem in New York City. The role was a natural fit: Asad, who holds a degree in architectural history from Columbia University, comes from a creative family and credits his parents as well as the design and architecture of Manhattan for cultivating the passions he developed for working in the industry. He’s guest lectured at Harvard’s Graduate School of Design and appeared on panels for Design Miami and South by Southwest, among others. In 2017, he was a FOLIO: Magazine 30 Under 30 honoree. With a keen eye for design and the gift of written word, Asad is blazing a path for other Native Sons to thrive. —K.M.
