DURAND BERNARR
Singer-songwriter and currently one of the Badduist, Erykah Badu’s backup singers, Durand Bernarr, is a gem to behold. With his sultry vibratos and extraverted personality, Bernarr is shaking the dynamics of storytelling in R&B through the gay, Black lens. From his appearances on Terrell’s “Song Association” to singing alongside the greats at Stevie Mackey’s Taco Tuesdays in Los Angeles, Bernarr’s presence is infectious and warming. He makes you laugh; he makes you smile; he makes you feel seen. He understands what it means to pay it forward, and as his fellow Native Son siblings, we should do the same by supporting Bernarr in his upcoming headliner tour titled, “The Wanderlust Tour” in 2023. — E.F.
