DEWAYNE PERKINS

Remember those hilarious moments while watching the summer comedy The Blackening? Those gut-busting laughs were courtesy of comic Dewayne Perkins. He’s the creative genius behind the horror spoof for us, by us, and its upcoming sequel. Born and raised in Chicago, Perkins received improv training at The Second City Improv Club. He was quickly recognized as a bold new voice of comedy by Variety magazine. As a writer, his work has been featured on Wild n’Out, Saved by the Bell reboot and Brooklyn Nine-Nine. In 2021, Perkins was Emmy-nominated for outstanding writing for a variety series for his work on The Amber Ruffin Show and named by The New York Times as one of the “queer young comics redefining American humor.”  —K.M.
