Oftentimes, within our community, there are certain body aesthetics celebrated that leave some Black, queer people feeling unrepresented in mainstream media. Dexter Mayfield, a body positive activist and dancer, is someone who lives out loud authentically and unapologetically. They have garnered over 170K followers on Instagram and utilizes their platform to redefine what it means to be sexy, Black and queer by fearlessly embracing their curves. Celebrities are helping Mayfield spread his electric body positivity and Mayfield has landed some major credits as a dancer for Rihanna’s Savage X Fenty Show, Janelle Monaé’s “Water Slide” music video and Saucy Santana ft. Latto “Booty” music video. Now this is the big energy we want to see and love. —G.E.
