J. HARRISON GHEE

The historic Tony win for J. Harrison Ghee broke the internet because they were one of the first nonbinary performers to win for best leading actor in a musical for the show Some Like It Hot. Growing up in Fayetteville, North Carolina, Ghee was influenced by the creative arts and after high school moved to New York to attend the American Musical and Dramatic Academy. They quickly took Broadway by storm for their critically-acclaimed performance as Lola in the hit musical Kinky Boots, however it was their show-stopping portrayal of Jerry/Daphne in Some Like It Hot and their mesmerizing performance of "You Coulda Knocked Me Over With A Feather" that brought home the gold. —K.M.
