When looking at Jamal Sims’s body of work, the phrase that instantly comes to mind is: “Check the resume.” The Emmy-nominated choreographer has been working in TV, film and live productions for over two decades. From the Step Up movie franchise, RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars toBritney Spears’ “Circus” tour and music videos for Prince, Outkast, Sean Paul, Ciara and many more. Sims’ signature smooth moves have been seen by audiences worldwide. These days, he’s busier than ever having worked on recent Disney productions Encanto at the Hollywood Bowl and Beauty and the Beast: A 30th Celebration, which he also Executive Produced. Sims also choreographed the scripted series Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies. When the 2023 Emmys take place this month, Sims could walk away with several awards as he’s nominated for outstanding choreography in all three productions. —G.E.
