Dr. David Johns

Whitney Houston once sang, “I believe the children are our future / teach them well and let them lead the way” and David Johns, Ph.D., takes that to heart. For years, the educator, policy expert, entrepreneur and “Disruptor in Chief” has been educating the masses on social injustices plaguing Black and LGBTQ+ communities. As the current Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director of the National Black Justice Coalition, Johns helms the organization’s efforts towards empowering Black LGBTQ+, same-gender loving people, and people living with HIV/AIDS. He continues his dedicated advocacy with his podcast, Teach The Babies, which supports social movements and examines the intersection of race and education. The Columbia University grad was the recipient of the Active Advocate Award at BET’s second annual BLACK + ICONIC and received the Advocacy Award at this year’s Better Brothers Los Angeles Truth Awards. — J.S.M.
