Kirk Flash wants fans to know that his name isn’t made up and neither is his talent. The South London born and raised artist was trained at the acclaimed King’s College London before taking on comedy on this side of the pond. While Flash held various creative roles in the industry, what put him on the map was his Summer Lane Drive series. Equal parts camp and thriller that is presented through the acting talents of dolls, the show earned him wins at both the Die Laughing Film Festival and the New Wave Short Film Festival. If Summer Lane Drive was a taste of Flash’s comedic chops, then This Is Gay is the full meal. The podcast-turned-miniseries takes viewers on a ride through the “darker side of modern gay life.” Flash’s This Is Gay won a British Podcast Award in 2022 and it was adapted for television as a BBC Comedy Short. This year, the writer and director took home the Best Director of a Short Film at the London Director Awards 2024 and was an official selection at the British Film Institute London Film Festival 2024. Tune-in y'all. — J.S.M.
