Early on in his career, Quil Lemons distinguished himself as a rising photographer to watch in New York. Lemons often explores Black culture, masculinity and vulnerability with his camera, which tends to persuade viewers to think deeper and question stereotypical mindsets. This year, the Philadelphia native has photographed magazine covers for <em>Cultured</em>, <em>Vogue Hong Kong</em>, <em>Elle UK</em>, and <em>CR Fashion Book</em>. No matter who lands in front of Lemons’ lens, whether it be Naomi Campbell, Billie Eillish or the photographer’s family, he always manages to create intimate images with the subject and showcase the humanity in them all. — G.E.
