Trell Thomas

If there’s one certified way to bring people together, it’s food. South Carolina native Trell Thomas created Black Excellence Brunch to not only create community, but to also celebrate Black success. Since launching the event series in his apartment, Thomas has grown the initiative tremendously and hosted the latest iterations on Martha’s Vineyard and at The White House. Oftentimes, you’ll see familiar faces at the Black Excellence Brunch such as Tabitha Brown, Niecy Nash-Betts, Taraji P. Henson, Fantasia and several others. The initiative has been a safer space for Black community since its founding, but it’s also evolved into a special meeting place that has no limits. It’s held space in celebration of the remake of The Color Purple and on the White House lawn bringing leaders across industries together to encourage them to use their influence for the greater good and so much more. — G.E.
