Andre Walker

Not many have walked the path of Andre Walker — but plenty of fashion icons have strutted down the runway in his designs that blend the eclectic with the avant-garde. Walker’s storied career began in New York City in the 1980s — where he immersed himself headfirst into the city’s downtown club scene, partying and hosting fashion shows there. By the late 1980s, he had sold his debut collection to Patricia Field’s boutique in NYC’s famed Greenwich Village. After closing his brand in 2005, Walker reentered his fashion career with consulting roles with Marc Jacobs and Kim Jones, and publishing two issues of the art and fashion magazine *Ti*wimuta. Ultimately, Walker’s internal compass drove him back into reviving his label, first creating a Spring 2018 ready-to-wear collection. Having collaborated with the likes of Louis Vuitton and Off-White, his designs have gone from the runways of Paris to the Met’s Costume Institute. Now, with over 40 years in the fashion industry, Walker received the CFDA’s Isabel Toledo Board of Directors’ Tribute award, a testament to historic career in the fashion industry.
