DaShawn Usher

As the recent Vice President of Community and Media at LGBTQ+ advocacy organization GLAAD, DaShawn Usher has spent years centering Black and Brown LGBTQ+ communities. His most recent endeavors include the Black Queer Creative Summit, dedicated to uplifting Black LGBTQ+ creatives across the media industry, and the Equity in Media and Entertainment Initiative, a pipeline program creating equitable media representation for Black LGBTQ+ storytellers and people living with HIV. Living by example, this year Usher took on the role of Executive Producer for the Black queer-created webseries Natives. As the Founder of the Mobilizing Our Brothers Initiative (MOBI), curating community-based events, speaker series, and performances for LGBTQ+ folks of color, Usher has gone from grassroots to GLAAD, proving that his advocacy work truly has range.
