After years of working his way from a sales associate at the Gap to a lead stylist at one of the retailer’s stores, McRae took his talents to Project Runway’s 21st season to show off his designs on a national level. While he didn’t take home the grand prize, McRae’s genderfluid style was a standout for viewers of the series — with judges and viewers noting his identifiable design aesthetic among his fellow contestants. McRae’s love for fashion stems from his time at North Carolina State University. He initially pursued an electrical engineering major. But after winning a college design competition, even though he earned his degree in electrical engineering, he decided to steer down a more fashionable path. He debuted his “Growth” and “Bloom25” collections at New York Fashion Week and continues to make a statement with his Stacked Beanie collection.
