Steven G. Norfleet

Actor Steven G. Norfleet captures audiences with each film and television role he steps into. As a trained dancer, the Detroit native’s plans to be a teacher shifted when he got the opportunity to perform as backup dancer for Keyshia Cole. He then went on to dance for Tinashe and Aretha Franklin before pursuing his acting career. His pivot into Hollywood led to roles across film and TV shows, including the John Legend-produced Underground, BET’s Being Mary Jane, HBO’s Watchmen, and AMC’s Interview with the Vampire. But it is Norfleet’s scene-stealing role as Charles in Tyler Perry’s hit Netflix series Beauty in Black that has audiences in a clutch. Across the show’s debut season in 2024 to its highly anticipated return after its second season premiered in September 2025, Norfleet remains a breakout star from the series, with viewers praising his performances as the messy but endearing Black queer character. Norfleet is also one half of a power couple along with his director and producer husband, Anthony Hemingway, offering us rich entertainment like Genius: Aretha, for which Hemingway directed and Norfleet starred. Now this is the Black Queer Love and Excellence we want now.
