MICHAEL TWITTY

The three time James Beard award winning author Michael Twitty truly believes that food is for the soul. Named as one of TIME magazine’s 100 Next, it's clear that his talent to use food as a medium into culture is so profound, especially in his new book, Koshersoul: The Faith & Food Identity of an African American Jew. In the follow up to 2018’s The Cooking Gene, Twitty highlights the stories and voices of Black Jews and their infusion of both communities to craft their own piece of tasteful joy. The culinary historian’s representation is a freshing not only as a Black Jew man but a Black queer man living in his purpose and truth. —E.F.
