Time magazine labeled the “Material Girl” rapper one of the year’s biggest rap sensations. Santana’s music is catchy, flamboyant, and brings anyone to the dance floor. His success has made him a new, prominent voice in the LGBTQ+ community. This year, Santana appeared in Coach’s annual Pride campaign and he also landed the covers of Teen Vogue and PAPER magazine. “I’m proud to be iconic to people, or to be making history to people or people seeing me as a future icon or future legend,” he has said. His appearance at Black Pride in Washington D.C. and his mash up performance with Madonna in at New York City Pride definitely secured his Material Growl status. Santana is currently on tour with Lizzo and is expected to release more music, including a highly anticipated collaboration with Lil Nas X. Suacy is definitely giving. —K.M.
