JOSHUA ALLEN
One thing about Joshua Allen, they are committed to representing the Black, queer community and advocating for our community’s equal rights. Allen has used their voice and platform to not only champion and celebrate Black trans people, but also be on the frontline as an advocate for the liberation of our community. Through their work with the Black Excellence Collective, Allen fosters a growing group of active support and has raised an effective amount of funds for Black, trans youth. They also currently serve as a philanthropic advisor at Black Trans Fund, the first U.S. fund dedicated to Black trans joy and liberation. In addition to Allen’s work as an activist, they are also an artist and this year, Allen announced their Returning Home Project, which will be centered around themes of queerness, power and belonging. —G.E.
