Darrell Spencer is ensuring men of color have access to grooming products formulated to address their skincare needs. Born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, Spencer started out in tech, specifically digital advertising. After working in roles at Meta, Google, and LinkedIn, in 2020, Spencer took his talents to a new business — his own. He created Kings Crowning, a collection of silk-lined hats made for Black hair that launched in 2020. Now, he’s on to his next venture, Crown Skin. Launched in 2024, Spencer created the cologne-infused skincare line made with men of color in mind. Tapping into the advent of viral men’s grooming videos on social media, Crowned Skin took the top spot in the TikTok shop, making Crowned Skin the first Black-male founded brand in Men’s Personal Care on the platform to reach that accomplishment. Spencer also took his products to daytime television, with a feature on The Tamron Hall show and racked up features in Bleu and Black Enterprise. Spencer is also offering support to other entrepreneurs, such as during the Waymaker Men’s Summit at BETX, ensuring he shares his learnings on his way to building his grooming kingdom to be everlasting.
